The Journey So Far...
For key stage 3 during Global Enterprise week we took as our theme the 2012 Olympics. This was a small activity based around two to three hours work. The lesson began with a discussion on what it meant to be enterprising, we then had a detailed conversation on enterprise cpabilites and how they encompass the vaules of the 2012 Olympics: Friendship, Courage, Determination, Excellence, Equality, Respect and Inspiration.
The pupils put themselves into groups (four to six pupils) and were given the following tasks;
Task 1:> Your task is to choose a country that is taking part in the 2012 Olympics. Research that country's history (e.g. how many medals have they won in the past, Olympic heroes), write a small informative summary - this website may help you: http://getset.london2012.com/en/heroes.
Task 2:> Redesign the Olympic logo.
Task 3:> Create a flag specifically for your chosen country to include:
- Your new Olympic logo
- The values of the Olympics 2012
- Colours of your chosen country e.g. the UK colours are red, blue and white.
Task 4:> Decide how, as a group you will present your work to the rest of the class
The pupils could choose for themselves how they would like to present their work. The work the pupils produced was unbelievable and without doubt encompassed: creativity, innovation, team work, communication, organisation, descision making, presentation skills and much more.
